Rally in Support of HYDRAA by Hyderabad Residents, Back Revanth Reddy Government’s Flood Prevention Measures

Hyderabad, August 2: Several colony welfare associations in Hyderabad organised rallies on Sunday in support of HYDRAA and the Telangana government, praising the agency’s efforts to protect government land, restore lakes, and reduce flood risks. The residents also expressed solidarity with HYDRAA Commissioner A.V. Ranganath and urged the government to continue the agency’s work.

Colony Welfare Associations Hold Rallies in Support of HYDRAA

Several welfare associations from different colonies in Hyderabad organised rallies in Madhura Nagar, Srinivasa Nagar, and Ameerpet on Sunday.

The participants raised slogans in support of the Telangana government and HYDRAA, stating that the agency was established keeping the city’s future in mind.

They welcomed the government’s decision to entrust HYDRAA with the responsibility of protecting the city’s chain-linked lakes to help prevent flooding.

The associations also condemned what they described as negative reports against HYDRAA circulating on social media. They said they had sent videos and representations to HYDRAA expressing their support and requested that the information be shared with the media.

Residents Praise HYDRAA’s Achievements

The welfare associations said that within two years, HYDRAA had protected 3,325 acres of government land worth Rs. 1.50 lakh crore, describing it as a significant achievement.

They also stated that HYDRAA restored:

• 6 lakes in the first phase
• 14 lakes in the second phase

According to the associations, these restoration works have helped reduce flood threats in the surrounding areas.

Residents Highlight Flood Prevention in Ameerpet

Residents said that earlier, Ameerpet and nearby colonies used to get flooded even after 5 centimetres of rainfall.

They claimed that HYDRAA identified blocked pipelines beneath the Ameerpet Metro Station, which had become clogged with garbage, and cleared six pipelines within a week, reducing the flood threat.

They also said HYDRAA coordinated with the GHMC, Irrigation Department, and Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (Jal Mandali) to resolve the issue.

Residents recalled that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy had personally visited the area and given directions to solve the flooding problem.

They further stated that the expansion of the Patny Nala had helped prevent flooding in the area.

Support for Chief Minister and HYDRAA Commissioner

The welfare associations expressed full support for Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for establishing HYDRAA.

They also extended their support to HYDRAA Commissioner A.V. Ranganath, stating that city residents would continue to support all initiatives undertaken under his leadership.

Participants demanded that HYDRAA should continue its operations without interruption and raised slogans calling for A.V. Ranganath to continue as HYDRAA Commissioner.

The associations also pledged full support for all environmental protection measures being undertaken by the Telangana government to build an environmentally friendly city.
