Bhopal: The Asaduddin Owaisi-led AIMIM, which participated in Assembly election battles within four states and did score some victories in Bihar as well as Maharashtra though it could not open its account in West Bengal and Tamil Nadu, is trying its fortune in the Madhya Pradesh civic bodies’ polls.
The party’s announcement was made via social media and accompanied by a video that shows Mr Owaisi addressing office-bearers of this state’s AIMIM unit. The candidates are to be fielded in Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Khargone, Burhanpur, Khandwa and Ratlam.
Submission of nomination papers is underway and the entire electoral process is scheduled to be completed by July 18.
Madhya Pradesh has pockets of minority populations and Bhopal’s old city area is a cultural twin of such a locality in Mr Owaisi’s constituency Hyderabad.
