Bhatti Vikramarka Accuses BRS of Neglecting Singareni for 10 Years, Reaffirms Uninterrupted Power and Stronger Coal Sector
Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka said the Telangana government is committed to uninterrupted power supply and strengthening Singareni, while alleging that the previous BRS government neglected the coal sector for 10 years.
Hyderabad: Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka has reaffirmed that the state government is committed to providing uninterrupted, quality electricity while strengthening Singareni Collieries, one of Telangana’s most prestigious public sector enterprises. Addressing the media at Tekulapalli in Yellandu Assembly Constituency during his tour of Khammam and Bhadradri Kothagudem districts on Sunday, he alleged that the previous BRS government neglected Singareni for 10 years, failed to secure new coal blocks, and stayed away from coal block auctions, leading to the current challenges.

Government Committed to Uninterrupted Power Supply and Stronger Singareni
Speaking during his tour, Bhatti Vikramarka said the people’s government remains committed to ensuring uninterrupted and quality electricity for the people while strengthening Singareni Collieries.
He also said the government is implementing innovative schemes to improve the dignity and economic empowerment of tribal communities.
Bhatti Vikramarka Alleges BRS Neglected Singareni for 10 Years
The Deputy Chief Minister alleged that the previous BRS government neglected Singareni throughout its 10-year tenure.
According to him:
- The previous government knew that existing coal mines were getting exhausted.
- It takes five to six years to operationalise a new coal mine.
- Despite this, it failed to make serious efforts to secure new coal blocks.
- It deliberately stayed away from coal block auctions.
He said these actions have resulted in difficulties for Singareni today.
Bhatti Vikramarka added that the organisation has remained strong only because of the unwavering dedication and hard work of its employees.

Government Reopened Pending Files and Secured Tadicherla-II Coal Block
The Deputy Chief Minister said that immediately after assuming office, the present government reopened long-pending files and fought with the Central Government to protect Singareni’s interests.
He recalled that:
- The UPA government allotted the Tadicherla-II coal block to Singareni in 2013.
- The previous BRS government ignored the issue for 10 years.
- The BJP-led Central Government withheld the mining lease.
He said the present government successfully fought with the Centre and secured the coal block.
Bhatti Vikramarka also revealed that he personally visited Odisha to speed up forest and environmental clearances for the Naini coal block.
Sathupalli and Koyagudem Coal Blocks Went to Private Hands, Says Bhatti
The Deputy Chief Minister further criticised the previous government for not participating in coal block auctions.
He alleged that as a result:
- Sathupalli coal block went into private hands.
- Koyagudem coal block also went into private hands.
He stressed that coal mining in Scheduled Areas should be carried out only by tribal communities or public sector organisations under the provisions of the 1/70 Regulation.
Bhatti Vikramarka said the Telangana government is continuing its legal battle against the Centre’s decision to privatise such coal blocks.
Assurance to Families Displaced by Singareni Projects
Responding to concerns regarding families displaced by Singareni projects, the Deputy Chief Minister said the government understands the emotional bond between farmers and their land.
He assured that displaced families would receive justice with compassion and humanity.
Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka reiterated the Telangana government’s commitment to providing uninterrupted power supply and strengthening Singareni Collieries. Addressing the media at Tekulapalli in Yellandu Assembly Constituency, he alleged that the previous BRS government neglected Singareni for 10 years, failed to secure new coal blocks, and avoided coal block auctions. He also said the present government secured the Tadicherla-II coal block, is pursuing the Naini coal block clearances, and will ensure justice to families displaced by Singareni projects.
