The Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport in Kolkata was placed under high alert on Tuesday afternoon after receiving a bomb threat call related to an IndiGo flight bound for Mumbai. The threat prompted an immediate response, including the evacuation of all 195 passengers onboard flight 6E5227.

Emergency services were activated, and passengers were safely escorted away from the aircraft in line with established airport safety procedures.

Following standard procedure, Bomb Squad personnel and the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) quickly responded to the threat. The aircraft was thoroughly searched, while security was heightened throughout the airport.

Officials have not confirmed whether any explosive device was found, but preliminary reports suggest it may have been a hoax call. Investigations are ongoing to trace the origin of the call.

Second Bomb Scare Since Operation Sindoor Launched

This is the second bomb scare at a major Indian airport since the Indian armed forces launched Operation Sindoor targeting Pakistan-based terror groups earlier this month.

On May 6, a similar threat was reported at Mumbai airport concerning an IndiGo flight arriving from Chandigarh, which later turned out to be a false alarm.

Investigation Underway, Security Tightened Nationwide

Authorities are now treating the incident as a serious security breach, and efforts are ongoing to trace the caller behind Tuesday’s threat. CISF and other security agencies have been put on heightened alert across airports in India, given the rising frequency of such incidents.
