Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy will officially launch the ambitious Indira Giri Solar Water Development Scheme on May 18 at Chenchu Colony in Achampet, Nagarkurnool district, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka announced on Tuesday.

₹12,500 Crore Project Aimed at Empowering Tribal Farmers

The scheme, with an estimated cost of ₹12,500 crore, is designed to uplift tribal farmers by providing solar-powered pump sets, sprinklers, and free saplings such as avocado and palm oil. The project is being coordinated with the Horticulture Department to ensure quarterly income for tribal families, Bhatti said during a public meeting at Lakshmi Narasimhapuram in the Illandu constituency of Mahabubabad district.

Government Committed to Welfare Despite Financial Strain

Bhatti emphasized that the Congress-led state government, despite financial challenges, is implementing massive welfare programs without burdening citizens. “Many more such schemes are in the pipeline,” he stated.

BRS Rule Criticized for Neglecting Tribals and Welfare Schemes

The Deputy CM launched a strong attack on the previous BRS government, accusing it of failing to implement key welfare schemes like farm loan waivers, Indiramma housing, and Rajiv Yuva Vikasam over the last ten years. “They plundered the state and didn’t care about the people,” he alleged.

Indiramma Housing Scheme to Expand in Tribal Areas

The Revanth Reddy-led administration has already sanctioned 3,500 Indiramma houses in each constituency, with a total target of 4.5 lakh houses at a cost of ₹22,500 crore. The focus will be on tribal constituencies, marking this as a historic housing initiative.

Tribal Rights and Congress Legacy Highlighted

Bhatti Vikramarka recalled that it was the Congress government that granted land rights to tribals under the Forest Rights Act. He lamented that those trying to cultivate such lands under the BRS regime were subjected to violence, including women being tied to trees and beaten.

BRS Left Telangana in ₹7 Lakh Crore Debt: Bhatti

He also blamed the previous government for leaving behind a ₹7 lakh crore debt, while failing to build major irrigation projects, industries, or fulfill promises like double-bedroom homes, land for Dalits, or jobs for every household.

“Revanth Reddy’s Cabinet Working Tirelessly”

Concluding his address, Bhatti said, “The entire cabinet is working with a clear intention to do good for the people. This is a government of action, not empty promises.”
