Devout Hindus have been sprucing up their homes for the last few days in view of the approaching Deepavali festival and decorated their dwellings with flowers, joyous youngsters burst crackers.
Shops selling sweets, fruits, flowers, decorative material and crackers did brisk business.
Chief minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao conveyed wishes to the people of the state on the occasion of Deepavali.
In a message, he said Deepavali is celebrated by the people of the country as a festival lights to dispel darkness.
Rao prayed that the Deepavali festival would shed more light of progress in the lives of the people of Telangana.
