Hyderabad: The District Olympic Association Hyderabad celebrated the induction of its newly elected members for the term 2024 to 2028 in a felicitation ceremony organized by affiliated sports associations.
Gajjala Nageshwar, former Chairman of Telangana Beverages Corporation Limited and a distinguished National Kabaddi Player, assumed the role of President, while Dr. S.R. Prem Raj, former Director of Sports GHMC, was unanimously elected as General Secretary.
In a gracious acknowledgment of the unanimous support received, President Gajjala Nageshwar expressed his gratitude, stating, “I am thankful to the members for their trust in electing me as President. This opportunity allows us to advance the cause of the Olympic Games and the Olympic Movement in the Hyderabad district.”
Inspired by Telangana sports legend L. Venkata Ram Reddy for the past four decades, the district has played a pivotal role in promoting sports. With a focus on providing adequate sports infrastructure, numerous programs have been successfully organized at the state, national, and international levels.
Dr. S.R. Prem Raj, assuming the mantle of General Secretary, outlined the association’s vision, saying, “Collaborating with relevant sports associations, our aim is to organize and host diverse sports events, positioning Hyderabad as a prominent hub for sports activities. We are committed to building on the established legacy of promoting sports in the region.”
The felicitation ceremony not only marked a change in leadership but also showcased the collective commitment of the new office bearers and affiliated sports associations to elevate the sports landscape in the Hyderabad district. Dr. S.R. Prem Raj, in his role as General Secretary, expressed optimism about the collaborative efforts that will shape Hyderabad into a thriving center for sports in the coming years.
