A jilted lover threw acid on the bride and groom and the Baratis present at a wedding hall in Bastar district of Chhattisgarh state.
The girl is said to be the ex-lover of the bridegroom. Infuriated over her lover’s infidelity, she resorted to the extreme step.
10 people got burnt after the ex-girlfriend threw acid. Bastar Police has arrested the accused who is a 23-year-old girl.
The incident took place on April 19 when the groom Damrodhar Baghel (25) was marrying a 19-year-old girl in small Ambal village of Bastar.
Meanwhile, the bride groom’s ex-lover attacked him with acid, causing minor burns to the groom, bride and 10 other guests.
After reviewing footage from 12 CCTV cameras installed in the village, the police managed to nab the girl, who had disguised herself as a man during the attack to hide her identity. The accused told the police that she and Baghel were in love for the past several years and Baghel had promised to marry her, but when he decided to marry another girl, she got upset and took this step.

The meeting between the two continued. Both of them promised to marry each other. Meanwhile, Baghel decided to marry another girl. When the accused came to know about her lover’s marriage, she called her lover but he denied the news of marriage. Later, the accused tried to contact her lover several times on the phone, but in vain.
Meanwhile, while watching ‘Crime Patrol’ on TV, the accused got the idea of acid attack to take revenge on her lover.
As soon as the accused somehow finds out that Damru is getting married, the mandap is decorated. The wedding procession has arrived. The accused also arrived at the wedding ceremony on the evening of April 19. That night the electric mains were down due to a storm. Taking advantage of this, accused D threw acid injuring 10 people including bride and groom.
