Floods: people from 12 villages evacuated in Nirmal dist of Telangana

Hyderabad: People from 12 flood prone villages under Kadem project in Nirmal district of Telangana have been evacuated in view of floods.
Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao (known as KCR), who reviewed the flood situation with the officials at Pragati Bhavan here on Wednesday evening, spoke to Minister Indrakaran Reddy on phone and instructed him to take up safety operations at Kadem project.
The CM also instructed Special Secretary to Municipal Administration Arvind Kumar to take required safety measures in Nirmal and other flood prone municipalities.
The CM asked Roads and Building minister V Prashant Reddy to take up repairs of damaged state and national highways.
He directed the Chief Secretary, Irrigation officials, District Collectors and SPs to ensure no loss of lives and take measures towards this direction.
The CM also instructed Minister P Ajay Kumar to monitor the evacuation of people from flood affected areas in Bhadrachalam in the wake of increasing flood waters in Godavari. He reviewed crops situation and breach of water bodies with Agriculture minister Niranjan Reddy and Rythu Bandhu Samithi President P Rajeshwar Reddy.
He instructed the officials to make available adequate seeds and fertilizers soon after receding the floods.
The CM instructed Energy Chairman Managing Director Prabhakhar Rao and Singareni CMD Sridhar to take steps to the supply of uninterrupted power and also procure coal stocks to meet for one month requirement.
The Energy department officials told the CM that 2300 electric poles have been damaged and 1600 were already restored. Repair works for other damaged poles are in the progress.
The energy authorities informed the CM that alternative arrangements are made to supply power in the areas where power supply disrupted due to heavy rains.
The CM also instructed the officials to start hydel power generation where the projects are receiving heavy inflows.
The Chief Minister instructed Special Chief Secretary to Finance Rama Krishna Rao to release required funds instantly to take up flood safety operations during the heavy rains and floods.
State Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar and DGP Mahender Reddy have been asked to take immediate measures in the wake of the rain related problems in the state.
The CM appealed to people not to venture out of their homes.
He reiterated the Ministers and MLAs should not leave from their local assembly constituencies until normalcy is restored.
In the wake of continuation of heavy rains, the state government has extended holidays to all educational institutions till July 16.
