Hyderabad: In a significant decision, the Telangana government has taken a major step towards registering properties purchased on notary paper, bringing relief to a large number of property owners in urban areas. This move offers a golden opportunity to those who had not previously registered their land, houses, and other properties.
Mr. Akbaruddin Owaisi, the Leader of the Legislature Party, played a pivotal role in this achievement. After persistent efforts and repeated demands, the state government issued GO No. 84, allowing the registration and regularization of notarized documents for properties in urban areas, including non-agricultural properties. However, specific guidelines or instructions for the registration process have not been provided yet.
The government’s initiative will bring relief to thousands of people whose properties and houses are on notarized documents.
Today, the Revenue Registration Department of the Government issued a GO, directing the Commissioner and Inspector General of Registration Stamps to create an application form and submit it along with applicant details to MeSeva Centres.
To complete the registration process, applicants must also submit additional documents, including the link document, property tax receipt, electricity and water bills, and other relevant copies. MeSeva centers will collect these documents and forward them to the concerned District Collectors for verification. Once the verification process is complete, the properties will be registered by collecting the required stamp duty.
For houses constructed on land exceeding 125 square yards, the registration process requires payment of stamp duty and a fine. Properties larger than 125 yards will be charged according to existing stamp duty rates. However, properties exceeding 3000 yards cannot be registered under this category. Applicants who own notarized properties can submit their registration applications within the next three months, specifically during August, September, and October.
This government initiative provides an excellent opportunity for property owners to register their notarized properties and regularize their ownership, resolving longstanding issues faced by many individuals in Telangana’s urban areas.
