Over a dozen apps from Play Store including Muslim prayer apps, a barcode scanner and a clock app have been banned by Google.
WIO news with reference to a popular tech site Gizmodo reported that Google has banned after it found that they included a line of code that was secretly harvesting user data.
Apparently engineered by a company linked to a United States defence contractor, the secret code was siphoning off personal data phone numbers, contacts, etc from the devices.
They reportedly paid money to the software developers to incorporate the code into their apps.
According to a report by the Wall Street Journal Al-Moazin Lite and Qibla Compass were among several popular apps temporarily banned by Google in late March.
