Hyderabad: The Government Railway Police successfully rescued 34 children in Telangana during Operation Smile-X-2024, conducted from January 1 to 31.
In this operation, three teams, each comprising one Sub-Inspector and four Constables from different divisions of Government Railway Police (Secunderabad Urban, Secunderabad Rural, and Kazipet), collaborated with RPF and civil society organizations to rescue 34 children (19 boys and 15 girls) from various railway stations across Telangana, according to a police statement released on Monday.
The diligent efforts of the Railway Police resulted in the registration of one FIR at the Railway Police Station, Hyderabad (Crime No.11/2024), invoking Section 374 of the Indian Penal Code. On January 12th, 2024, a joint search operation on Train No: 18045 from Khammam to Hyderabad led to the rescue of a child accompanied by a suspected trafficker.
The child, destined for employment at Hotel Rehan, Mallepally, Hyderabad, was promptly rescued, and the suspected trafficker was issued a 41(A) CrPC notice upon the train’s arrival at Secunderabad Railway Station.
The success of this operation underscores the Government Railway Police’s commitment to ensuring the safety and protection of vulnerable children and their dedication to combating trafficking and exploitation within the railway network.
