Prayagraj: The Allahabad High Court postponed the hearing of a petition on Monday, which challenged the decision of the Varanasi District Court to permit Hindus to perform worship in the Gyanvapi Mosque premises.
Justice Rohit Ranjan Aggarwal issued the order to postpone the hearing based on an appeal by the Mosque Management Association.
He conducted a detailed hearing on the arguments presented by the Muslim party’s lawyers, Punit Gupta and S.F.A. Naqvi, and scheduled further hearing for February 15th based on Naqvi’s availability.
Naqvi informed the court that the disputed ownership rights of the petitioner (YAS) have not yet been decided.
Granting permission for worship without determining his rights would be unlawful. The Muslim party also submitted a certified copy of the court order which was not submitted earlier. The Hindu party also submitted some documents.
