As per astronomical calculations, the Islamic month of Zul Hijjah is likely to begin on Thursday, June 30.
According to the Emirates Astronomical Society, the festival of Eid Al Adha, which is marked on Zul Hijjah 10, will fall on July 9. Khaleej Times reported.
Hajj pilgrimage begins on 8th and ends on 12th of Zul Hijjah that is from July 7 to July 11. Muslims mark the Day of Arafah on Zul Hijjah 9 which will fall on Friday, July 8.
The Day of Arafah is the holiest day for Muslims. Pilgrims spend the day on a hill called Arafah, from where Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) gave his last sermon, repenting for their sins.
Muslims who couldn’t go for the Hajj pilgrimage fast on the day.
During the three days of Eid Al Adha, or the Feast of Sacrifice, Muslims slaughter livestock — usually, a goat, sheep, cow or camel — to commemorate Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son based on Allah’s command. As he passed in Allah’s test, Allah provided him with a ram before the sacrifice happened, that the prophet then slaughtered.
