Handover 38 acres of Pet Basheerabad: Journalists Housing Society reiterates its plea to CM KCR
Hyderabad: Journalists Housing Society has reiterated its plea to Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao to expedite the handover of 38 acres in Survey No. 25/2 of Pet Basheerabad, which the society had paid Rs 12.33 crore for back in 2011.
The state government had previously handed over 32 acres in Survey No. 332 of Nizampet in 2018, following the Chief Minister’s instructions.
The Supreme Court’s directive on August 25, 2022, called for the handover of the remaining 38 acres without creating any third-party interest.
The society has given an August 10 deadline to the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) to remove encroachments on the land and resolve pending litigation. They plan to stage an indefinite sit-in at HMDA premises if no action is taken against the encroachers.
Several society members expressed concerns about the delay, especially given the toll of the Covid-19 pandemic, which caused the death of nearly 60 members and rendered hundreds jobless.
The society hopes that the Chief Minister, known for taking decisions favoring various sections of society, including village revenue assistants (VRAs), will approve their legitimate request.
They thanked the CM for his support thus far and expressed confidence that the remaining 38 acres will soon be handed over to their society.
