Prominent religious scholar, Maulana Khalilur Rahman Sajjad Nomani, expressed an intense reaction to the grave situation in Manipur, stating that the atrocities inflicted upon women in the region were beyond description. He drew attention to a distressing video of a naked girl that had recently gone viral in Manipur, evoking strong emotions in all those who witnessed it.

The extent of the injustice suffered by the girl deeply affected Maulana Nomani, and he emphasized that this pain should be felt not only by him but by every member of a civilized society. Reacting to the news, he lamented the sorrow and anger that filled their hearts.

As a member of the Executive Committee of All India Muslim Personal Law Board, Maulana Nomani questioned the state of the country, expressing condemnation for such heinous acts as stripping a girl of her dignity. He stressed the importance of upholding women’s rights and the need to treat women with respect and love, regardless of their roles as mothers, wives, sisters, or daughters.

Moving beyond the issue in Manipur, he addressed the broader context of India, sharing concerns about the portrayal of minority communities in films, highlighting the longstanding struggles faced by Muslims in the country. He mentioned Bilquis Bano as an example of the hardships endured by Muslim women.

Drawing attention to recent events in Manipur, including the burning of several churches, Maulana Nomani expressed profound sadness, pain, and anger. He urged the opposition to faithfully fulfill their role and preserve the hope of all Indians, emphasizing that the unity of the opposition should not be compromised by internal differences, as the honor and humanity of India were at stake.

In a heartfelt appeal, he called upon the tribals, Dalits, minorities, OBCs, Sikhs, Christians, and followers of other religions to unite for the country’s well-being and to preserve its unity and integrity. Maulana Nomani clarified that he held no allegiance to any political party; he was an Indian, and his thoughts were with the people of Manipur, stressing the urgency of restoring peace in the region for the greater good of the country.
