Hyd: Ganesh immersion to continue until Friday evening

The Ganesh Shobhayatra (Immersion Procession), which commenced on Thursday morning, is scheduled to continue until Friday evening, police sources said.

Hyderabad: The Ganesh Shobhayatra (Immersion Procession), which commenced on Thursday morning, is scheduled to continue until Friday evening, police sources said.

So far, the Ganesh Shobhayatra has been progressing peacefully, with approximately 70,000–80,000 Ganesh idols immersed in five locations around Hussain Sagar within the city. The remaining 5,000–10,000 idols are expected to be immersed by this evening.

In anticipation of potential traffic congestion, the police are taking measures to expedite the immersion process, the sources said.

As part of proactive measures to ensure the smooth and safe conduct of the Ganesh Immersion celebrations in Telangana, an aerial survey was conducted by a team led by Home Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali, Minister Srinivas Yadav, DGP Anjani Kumar, and Hyderabad Police Commissioner C V Anand on Thursday.

Approximately 40,000 police personnel have been deployed to oversee the Ganesh immersion program, with around 25,694 security personnel stationed within the Hyderabad Police Commissionerate and an additional 13,000 in the Cyberabad Police Commissionerate and Rachakonda Police Commissionerate.

The Ganesh immersion procession is being closely monitored from the command control center, equipped with more than 20,000 CCTV cameras, the sources added.
