Hyderabad: On July 31, the Telangana government proposed the development of a second airport in Hyderabad by seeking permission from the Union Ministry of Defence to utilize the Hakimpet defence airport for civil aviation.
The Cabinet emphasized the city’s rapid growth, necessitating another airport on the opposite side. Additionally, the Cabinet approved the allocation of 253 acres of land for an airport in Warangal, the second-largest city in the state.
Furthermore, they greenlit the establishment of eight medical colleges in each district, making Telangana the first state in India to achieve this milestone. The Cabinet also sanctioned the construction of four TIMS super speciality hospitals in different parts of Hyderabad.
Fifty percent of their services will be available for general consultation, while the other 50% will be on par with Nizam’s Institute of Medical Science. Additionally, the Cabinet approved a budget of Rs 1,800 crore to add 2,000 beds to NIMS and decided to establish a horticulture college in Mahabubabad.
