Hyderabad: Meet woman cab driver whose life has changed after a twitter post

Hyderabad: Laxmi is a cab driver who has broken the stereotype and has been driving a cab for the last five hears. A resident of Neredmet, Laxmi rides for 8 to 9 hours a day and earns around Rs. 2000 per day.

The burden of the household and earning for the family fell on Laxmi after her husband tested Covid-19 positive during the first wave of Coronavirus. News Meter reported.

Laxmi was worried about upcoming EMI for her Xylo car, her only source of daily bread, which is Rs 45000 and was due on August 15.
Hima Bindu a resident of Hyderabad, who took a ride in Laxmi’s cab, took a selfies with Laxmi and brought to light the woman cab driver’s struggles by posting it on twitter on August 5.

People came forward to help Laxmi and the required fund was raised within no time.

Not only her problem of EMI was solved but a Hyderabad-based start-up Flytta promised Laxmi a new job that pays around Rs. 50000 per month.
