Hyderabad: Muslim graveyard demolished at Afzalgunj

The graveyard contained over 1000 graves and over 775 unidentified remains.

Hyderabad: Without the knowledge of the concerned Waqf board authorities, a Muslim graveyard was illegally demolished near Afzalgunj reportedly to build a complex in its place.

The graveyard at Hazrat Syed Jaan Ullah Shah Qadri Chishti Dargah was razed after a few Waqf board members and the caretaker of the graveyard allegedly gave permission for its demolition. The graveyard contained over 1000 graves and over 775 unidentified remains.

On learning about the incident, Congress leader Osman Al-Hajri contacted Telangana Waqf Board chairman Masiullah Khan, following which the demolition work on the graveyard was halted. Siasat.com reported.

Threatening to go to the CP and DCP, if any criminal cases have been lodged by families or relatives of unidentifiable bodies, Osman Al-Hajri sought arrest of the people who have demolished the graves.
