Hyderabad: Number of Covid cases doubled in 48 hours

Hyderabad: Hyderabad has witnessed a spike in Covid-19 cases during the past 48 hours. According to the government data, the number of cases increased to 61 on Wednesday which was 30 on Monday.

While 42 cases were logged on Monday, 75 new cases were reported across the state on Wednesday, the Telangana health department reported.

Thus, the number of active cases in Telangana rose to 481 on Wednesday, from 416 on Monday.

Spike in cases has been witnessed in the state, following the discovery of BA.4, and BA.5 lineages of the Omicron variant of Coronavirus.

As per the report of Deccan Chronicle, the BA.4 and BA.5 lineages are believed to be able to spread much faster among people, however, the symptoms observed so far are mild according to doctors and there may not be much cause for concern.
