Gaza: The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) presented a plan to evacuate the civilian population from the southern Gazan city of Rafah ahead of a planned Israeli military operation in the city, The Jerusalem Post newspaper reported on Monday.
On Sunday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said a military operation in Rafah is inevitable, and a pause in hostilities discussed at the talks with Hamas can only delay it.
In addition, the IDF also approved a plan for the distribution of humanitarian aid in the Gaza Strip, which will prevent alleged looting by Hamas.
Earlier in February, Netanyahu’s office said Israel was preparing to conduct a large-scale operation in Rafah, where, according to Israeli military data, four Hamas battalions remain.
The prime minister also instructed the army and defence ministry to present a plan to evacuate civilians from the city.
