Rajkumar, who works as a watchman at a brick kiln in Virpura, Gabhana, earns only ₹5,000 a month. He supports a large family that includes his wife, three daughters, and two sons, all of whom engage in small-scale farming and labor to make ends meet. The unexpected notice has left the family and their entire village in shock.
Fake Company in Delhi Involved in Crores Worth of Transaction
According to the Income Tax Department, massive transactions worth crores were conducted under Rajkumar’s name through a fake company registered in Delhi. Rajkumar, however, claims he has never seen such a large sum in his life. It is suspected that his identity was misused through forged documents.
Troubles Traced Back to Old Loan for Fish Farming
The origin of the problem may lie in an old loan Rajkumar took five years ago from Gabhana Gramin Bank for fish farming. After his pond was destroyed by rainfall, he repaid the loan through labor. Experts believe that his submitted documents might have been misused during that time to create fake firms.
Document Misuse: A Larger Scam Unfolds in Aligarh
This isn’t an isolated case. Aligarh has recently seen a spike in fake firms created using forged PAN and Aadhaar details. Over ₹80 crore worth of transactions have surfaced through these scams.
- A juice vendor named Rais was sent a ₹7.79 crore notice.
- A locksmith named Yogesh received a ₹89 lakh notice.
- Now, Rajkumar has become the latest victim with a ₹2.5 crore notice.
In all these cases, fake firms were registered using genuine documents without the knowledge of the actual person, mostly in Delhi and Aligarh.

Experts advise taking the following steps to detect any misuse of your PAN:
- Log in to the Income Tax portal and check for any unknown transactions.
- Review Form 26AS to identify any unfamiliar credits or TDS deductions.
