Indian-Origin Doctor Sacked from Royal Bahrain Hospital Over Anti-Palestine Social Media Posts
A doctor of Indian origin was dismissed from his position at the Royal Bahrain Hospital after allegedly making anti-Palestine remarks on social media during the Israel-Hamas conflict.
Dr. Sunil Rao expressed support for Israel in his posts on X (formerly Twitter), which were reported to Bahraini authorities by a user on the platform.
The hospital stated that his comments were personal and did not reflect the hospital’s views, leading to his termination.
Dr. Rao apologized for his insensitive statements, emphasizing his respect for the country, its people, and its religion. His profile has also been removed from the hospital’s website.
Dr. Sunil Rao is an internal medicine specialist with around 20 years of experience, and he graduated from Andhra Medical College in Visakhapatnam and Kasturba Medical College in Mangaluru, Karnataka, according to his Twitter profile.
