Memorial Award for Social Justice
Abraham Mathai, the founder-chairman of the city-based NGO Harmony Foundation, has announced that the prestigious Mother Teresa Memorial Award for Social Justice 2023 will be conferred upon the jailed Iranian Nobel Laureate Narges Mohammadi.

In November, her husband Taghi Rahmani and their two children will receive the award on her behalf at an event in Mumbai.

This award aims to honor her unwavering courage in risking her life as a fearless champion and advocate of human rights in opposition to the fundamentalist regime of Iran, truly embodying the essence of humanity in action.

The award ceremony is slated for November 26 in Mumbai. Taghi Rahmani, her husband, along with their 16-year-old twins, have graciously agreed to attend the event and accept the award on her behalf, as stated by Mathai.

Previous recipients of the Mother Teresa Memorial Award for Social Justice include the Pakistani education activist and Nobel Laureate Malala Yousafzai.

Additionally, Harmony Foundation also applauds the decision of the Norwegian Nobel Committee to nominate Narges Mohammadi for the Nobel Peace Prize for the year 2023.
