Journalists’ kins bring tears in eyes with stories of their plight; request KCR to ensure house plots



Hyderabad: Members of the Jawaharlal Nehru Journalists Mutually Aided Cooperative Housing Society have appealed to the government to immediately implement the Supreme Court verdict on the distribution of house plots to journalists and support them as they are living a very difficult life.

The women members and the family members of the deceased members who attended the meeting held at the Somajiguda Press Club narrated their plight and sufferings.

On the occasion, they asked the government to immediately implement the Supreme Court verdict on the distribution of house plots to members of the Jawaharlal Nehru Journalists Mutually Aided Cooperative Housing Society.

Those who were present at the meeting burst into tears after listening to the sad tales of the family members who lost their loved ones, who were members of the society. The family members of the deceased told that their loved ones left the world with their wish buried in their heart to own a plot and see their children benefit from the scheme; their wish is still unfulfilled.

The participants urged the government to resolve their land issue which is pending for decades. Late journalist Srinivas’s wife Jayashree Avadena revealed that they did not even have money for the last rites of the deceased member.

Chandrakala, the wife of cartoonist Shekhar, said that after his death, his family faced many problems, even though he gained fame all over the world with his cartoons.

The members of the society requested Chief Minister to understand their pain and asked him to hand over the land. All the women members who attended the meeting requested to resolve the long pending issue so that they can own a house plot.

Society Secretary Vamsi Srinivas was also present on the occasion. He answered the queries of the members. About 50 women journalists attended the meeting. They displayed placards requesting the CM and the government to resolve the issue and make their dream come true.
