Kuwait to print 100,000 copies of the Quran in Swedish

According to a report from Kuwait News Agency (Kuna) on Tuesday, the Kuwaiti government has announced its intention to print 100,000 copies of the Quran translated into Swedish. This decision was made in response to an incident in Sweden where a man burned the Quran during the festival of Eid-al-Adha, causing widespread outrage among Muslims around the world.

The official agency stated that this initiative is aimed at promoting the tolerance of Islam, spreading Islamic values, and fostering coexistence among all individuals. Fahd al-Daihani, the head of the general authority for printing and publishing the Quran in Kuwait, confirmed that the necessary measures are being taken to implement the government’s directives.

Al-Daihani further emphasized that this undertaking seeks to reinforce the tolerant nature of the Islamic faith. The goal is to create an environment of love, tolerance, and peace, while highlighting concepts such as mercy and rejecting hatred, extremism, and religious fanaticism.

Kuwait was one among several Muslim-majority countries that strongly condemned the burning of the Quran in Sweden back in late June. The Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Swedish ambassador at that time and urged the Swedish government to assume responsibility for preventing similar incidents in the future by taking immediate action and discontinuing the granting of permits for such acts.
