A 65-year-old man was found dead just a few hours after he was thrashed allegedly by a ruling BJP functionary over suspicion of being a Muslim. The shocking incident occurred in Neemuch district.
The video of the savage act went viral on social media.
Reacting to it Bollywood actress Swara Bhaskar deplores, “On suspicion of being Muslim” Let’s repeat that to ourselves until it dawns on us how deeply rotten we’ve become as a society, for having basically dehumanised and criminalised an entire community. This is a deeply shamed & sickening state of affairs in our country. “

A twitter user exclaims, “Beaten to death “on suspicion of being Muslim”. Is being Muslim a crime in India? And the punishment for it the death penalty?”
Waris Pathan deplores, “Under Modi’s New India, one need not be Muslim but just a suspicion of being Muslim can get you killed. Such is the state of apathy”
Alishan Jafri observes, “Bhavarlal Jain’s murder shows that we’re capable of protesting to force the state to act against perpetrators of hate crimes when someone is killed on the suspicion of being Muslim. It’s funny that when MUSLIMS ARE MURDERED for being MUSLIM, this violence becomes distraction.”
A twitter user writes, “65-year-old Mr. Jain was beaten and killed “on suspicion of being a Muslim.” To be Muslim in India is now enough of a justification to be beaten to death. We are told he dint protest enough and prove that he wasn’t one. Tomorrow they will charge his dead body with negligence.”
Another condemns the act thus, “A mosque is being dug on the suspicion of being a temple. A man is being lynched on the suspicion of being a Muslim. New India runs on suspicions.”
