Mobile charger claims eight-month-old baby’s life in Karnataka


Kannada: An eight-month-old baby tragically died due to electrocution after chewing on the pin of a mobile charger wire connected to a socket in Siddarada village, Karwar taluk, Uttara Kannada district, Karnataka.

The baby, Sanidhya Kalgutkar, was the daughter of Santhosh Kalgutkar and Sanjana Kalgutkar.

The incident occurred on Wednesday when the mobile charger was left connected to the socket without turning it off. Upon discovering what happened, the family rushed her to the district hospital, but unfortunately, the doctors declared her brought dead.

Santhosh Kalgutkar, the baby’s father and a contract worker with Hubballi Electricity Supply Company (Hescom), collapsed at work after hearing about the tragedy and was taken to the hospital. The body of the baby was shifted to the mortuary.

Sanidhya was the couple’s third child, and the family was busy preparing for one of the girl children’s birthday party that day. The police have registered a case and are conducting an investigation.
