Bengaluru: A WhatsApp group named ‘Muslim Defense Force’ is allegedly threatening action against Muslim girls for removing burqa and hijab in public places.
According to India Today, messages are posted in the said group in Kannada which read, “In mall basements we have seen many wearing burqa and misbehaving. Our workers have already warned them. If this is seen again, you’ll be beaten up.”
Asking the parents to monitor their children whenever they go to college and other public places, the group also revealed that MDF workers are ‘monitoring’ Muslim girls in Mangalore for any ‘misbehaviour’. The text stated that if the girls are not found wearing a burqa, they will be beaten up.
The group has come under scanner since then. Mangalore Police Commissioner Shashi Kumar claimed that they are monitoring the threat messages on social media platforms related to Muslim Defence Force.
Warning that they could be attacked by members of the Muslim group, the police advised the parents to ensure their children don’t remove their burqas in public places for selfies and pictures.
