The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) has established a state-level 7-member committee to advance its initiative against the Uniform Civil Code (UCC). This committee has already held meetings with national presidents of various political parties. Now, they are seeking an appointment with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
Maulana Muhammad Sulaiman, a member of the board and the 7-member committee from Kanpur, stated that they are in communication with the chief minister’s office in hopes of securing a delegation appointment.
Additionally, Maulana Muhammad Sulaiman informed that over 100 Muslim and other organizations will gather at Jantar Mantar on July 26 and 27 to openly denounce the Centre’s efforts to implement the UCC.
During their campaign, members of the AIMPLB’s UP committee, including Maulana Khalid Rasheed Farangi Mahali, Maulana Atiq Ahmad Bastwi, and Amna Rizwan, met with Samajwadi Party chief and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Akhilesh Yadav. The Samajwadi Party chief expressed his full support in opposing the UCC alongside the Board at all levels.
