Hyderabad: In a devastating incident on November 13, a major fire engulfed a residential building in the Nampally area, resulting in a total death toll of ten. Authorities revealed that the latest fatality was a 17-year-old who succumbed to injuries sustained during the tragic accident.
Emergency responders discovered ten individuals unconscious on various floors of the apartment complex. The building, comprising a ground floor and four upper floors, faced a dire situation as smoke rapidly filled the only accessible staircase. Residents on upper floors found themselves trapped amidst the smoke and flames, leading to the unfortunate loss of lives, as detailed by police and fire department officials.
The victims included nine individuals from two families, while the 17-year-old, suffering from over 70 percent burns, was initially admitted to a state-run hospital. Tragically, he passed away on Friday evening.
Investigations by officials indicated that the fire originated from a “short circuit” on the stilt floor of the building. Unauthorized storage of flammable materials, including chemicals in plastic drums, exacerbated the situation, causing the fire to swiftly spread vertically to all upper floors.
