Hyderabad: Telangana State Agriculture Minister Niranjan Reddy today threw a challenge to the State BJP leaders to get a letter from the Centre, by 5 pm today, stating that it would purchase paddy from the State. He said he would resign from the post if the BJP gets the letter from the Centre or else either the State BJP chief Bandi Sanjay or the union minister Kishan Reddy should quit.
It may be mentioned here that Sanjay has undertaken a ‘deeksha’ protesting against the State Government’s stand on cultivation of paddy by the farmers.
The Minister said that the state government has spent Rs. one lakh crore on purchase of paddy from the farmers by opening purchase centres in every village. But, the Centre has written that it could not purchase paddy as there were enough stocks.
He said the BJP leaders should continue the deeksha till the Centre purchased every grain from the State. He said the BJP leaders should give up their attitude to mislead the people.
He said the BJP leaders were resorting to fake deeksha keeping in view the Huzurabad byelection.
