Peddapally Municipal Assistant Engineer Held in ₹2 Lakh Bribery Case; ₹32 Lakh Cash Seized
The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday arrested a Municipal Assistant Engineer in Peddapally district for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹2 lakh to clear a contractor's pending bill, with the case taking a bigger turn after officials recovered over ₹32 lakh in unaccounted cash during subsequent searches.

Hyderabad: The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday arrested a Municipal Assistant Engineer in Peddapally district for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹2 lakh to clear a contractor’s pending bill, with the case taking a bigger turn after officials recovered over ₹32 lakh in unaccounted cash during subsequent searches.
The accused, identified as Kallepalli Sathish Kumar (33), was serving as the Municipal Assistant Engineer in Peddapally Municipality.
According to ACB officials, Sathish Kumar allegedly demanded and accepted a bribe of ₹2 lakh from a contractor for processing and clearing the contractor’s final bill amounting to ₹12.28 lakh related to graveyard development works undertaken in the municipality.
Acting on a complaint, ACB officials laid a trap and caught the officer red-handed while allegedly accepting the bribe amount.

During follow-up searches conducted at the accused officer’s residence, investigators reportedly seized ₹32.31 lakh in unaccounted cash, significantly expanding the scope of the corruption case.
The recovered cash is being verified as part of the ongoing investigation to determine its source and whether it is linked to other instances of alleged corruption.
Following his arrest, Sathish Kumar was produced before the Special ACB Court in Karimnagar, which will decide on further legal proceedings in the matter.
The Telangana ACB said the investigation is continuing and that officials are examining all aspects of the case, including the possibility of additional irregularities and disproportionate assets linked to the accused officer.
