Raids Uncover Expired Food in Hyderabad Eateries
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) task force team recently conducted inspections at three eateries: Kritunga - The Palegar’s Cuisine Restaurant, Head Quarters Rest-o-Bar, and KFC at Somajiguda, uncovering numerous violations and expired food items.

At Kritunga – The Palegar’s Cuisine Restaurant, the team discarded six kilograms of Ganga Gold Paneer worth Rs 2,100, which were sealed in packets without FSSAI licence, logo, and use-by dates. Additionally, six kilograms of ‘methi malai’ paste worth Rs 1,800, expired since April 3, were also discarded. The team seized 156 units of one-litre water bottles of Kritunga Palegar’s brand worth Rs 7,800 due to low TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) value of just 4 ppm.
Other violations at Kritunga included improper labelling of non-vegetarian paste worth Rs 648, a citric acid packet worth Rs 150, and semi-prepared and raw food articles stored in refrigerators without proper labelling and covering.
At Head Quarters Rest-o-Bar, the FSSAI team discarded 50 pizza bases, five packets of garlic bread, and five kilograms of noodles worth Rs 400 due to the absence of labels on their sealed packs. Food articles stored inside refrigerators were not labelled properly, and food handlers were found without wearing hair caps, gloves, and aprons. Additionally, vegetarian and non-vegetarian food was stored together, and synthetic food colours were being used. The team also discarded food colour worth Rs 400 on the spot.
At KFC (Yum Restaurant India), the FSSAI Licence true copy was not displayed at any prominent location within the premises, according to the Commissioner of Food Safety.
