Riyadh: Saudi Arabia has recently witnessed an unusual and striking weather pattern, where certain regions are enduring intense heat, while others are experiencing cold temperatures. This highly contrasting weather has left many surprised as the country grapples with extremes in both directions.
In several parts of Saudi Arabia, cities like Al-Ahsa, Hafr al-Batin, Tanhajat, Dahna, and Saman are currently suffering from scorching temperatures, with the mercury soaring to 46 degrees Celsius. Other major cities, including Makkah, Dammam, Al-Majuma, Yinba, Riyadh, Bareda, Al-Kharaj, Wadi al-Dawasar, and Rafah, are also facing oppressive heat, with temperatures hovering around 44 to 45 degrees Celsius.
However, on the other hand, in a surprising twist, the coldest regions of Saudi Arabia present a stark contrast. Al-Suda, for example, recorded a chilly temperature of just 13 degrees Celsius. In Abha, the temperature dropped to 19 degrees Celsius, while in areas like Al-Baha, Taif, Al-Qariyat, and Tariq, temperatures were recorded between 22 to 24 degrees Celsius.
According to the Meteorological Department, today the coastal areas of Makkah and Madinah are expected to remain cloudy, and similar conditions may also prevail in Riyadh and the eastern region. Dusty winds could affect visibility, especially in areas near the sea and Jamum, with wind speeds ranging from 40 to 49 kilometers per hour.
This weather fluctuation comes after last month’s heavy rains across many parts of Saudi Arabia, which caused severe flooding and tragic loss of life. The recent combination of extreme heat and cold reflects the growing unpredictability in Saudi Arabia’s climate, signaling the need for citizens to be vigilant and prepared for sudden weather shifts.
This unusual weather has become a topic of discussion, reflecting the evolving climate patterns and their impact on daily life across Saudi Arabia.
