Supreme Court Rejects Plea, Says Recruitment in Final Stage
The petition was filed by Surepalli Srinivas, who sought the quashing of GO 29, arguing that it contradicted an earlier verdict of the High Court and had adversely affected thousands of candidates. The matter was heard by a two-judge bench comprising Justice Pamidi Ghantam Sri Narasimha and Justice J Bagchi.
However, the Supreme Court observed that similar petitions against GO 29 had been dismissed earlier and noted that the Group-1 recruitment process was in its final stages, making it inappropriate to intervene at this point.
Telangana Government Gets Final Go-Ahead
With the dismissal of the petition, the Telangana government has overcome the last legal hurdle in proceeding with Group-1 appointments. The apex court’s verdict comes as a major step forward for aspirants awaiting recruitment under one of the state’s most prestigious government job categories.
The ruling affirms the state government’s stance on GO 29 and allows the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) to continue the recruitment process without further delay.
