Hyderabad: In a protest against the intrusion by three unidentified individuals in a drunken state into rooms of the PG Girls Hostel at Osmania University, Secunderabad, girl students held a dharna on Saturday.

The incident occurred in the early hours of the day, prompting the students to demand stern action against the intruders.

Reportedly, the miscreants misbehaved with the girls, but the students managed to apprehend one of them and handed him over to the police. In response to the incident, the students staged a dharna, seeking not only stringent action against the perpetrators but also enhanced security measures for the safety of the students.

The Osmania University Registrar intervened, urging the students to call off the dharna. However, the students insisted that the Vice-Chancellor (VC) should personally assure them of complete security.

It was highlighted that the hostel, which accommodates 250 female students, relies on just one security guard for safety.

The police have registered a case, and an investigation is underway, police said.
