Telangana Assembly elections to be held as per schedule: CEO

Hyderabad: Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Vikas Raj has informed that the Telangana Assembly elections will be held as per the schedule and all arrangements in this regard are being made to conduct the polls in a peaceful and transparent manner.
Addressing the press persons after inaugurating a media center at the BRK Bhavan here on Saturday, Vikas Raj said that as there was only two or three months for the elections, the arrangements were being made in a brisk pace and training programmes were being conducted for officials at various levels.
The CEO said about 15 lakh new voters have been added to the voter’s list and the focus has been placed on the registration of youth and women voters and as part of the endeavour, 6.99 lakh youth voters have been registered so far.
“In a bid to assess the situation in Telangana, the Central Election Commission will be visiting the State on October 3, 4 and 5. On the other hand, the inspection of EVMs is going on in Telangana. After the final voter list is completed, the staff will be trained in the districts,” Vikas Raj disclosed.
He further informed that 20 different enforcement agencies would be taking part in the whole process to conduct the polls in a peaceful and transparent manner.
“The election commission is simultaneously checking the EVMs and attending to complaints. There have been complaints of change of address in the GHMC and efforts are being made to resolve the problems,” Vikas Raj said.
