Hyderabad: The Drugs Control Administration Telangana has issued a public advisory ahead of the one-day nationwide bandh called by the All-India Organization of Chemists and Druggists (AIOCD) on May 20, 2026, assuring uninterrupted access to essential and life-saving medicines across the state. The advisory stated that pharmacy stores attached to hospitals will remain open, while corporate medical stores including Apollo and Medpuls have also been advised to continue operations during the bandh.

Telangana DCA Issues Advisory Over Nationwide Bandh
According to Press Note No. 19/DCA/2026 dated May 19, 2026, the Drugs Control Administration Telangana issued the advisory in the interest of patient safety and uninterrupted access to medicines during the bandh on May 20, 2026.
The bandh call was given by the All India Organisation of Chemists and Druggists (AIOCD).
Hospital Pharmacy Stores to Remain Open
The advisory stated that a meeting was held with the AIOCD Telangana chapter, during which several decisions were taken to avoid inconvenience to the public.
The decisions include:
- Pharmacy stores attached to hospitals will remain open to supply medicines.
- District chapters of the AIOCD will remain in close contact with Drug Inspectors to arrange medicines from local stores during emergencies.
Apollo and Medpuls Stores Advised to Continue Services
The Drugs Control Administration stated that corporate medical stores such as Apollo and Medpuls have been advised to keep their stores open during the bandh period.
Officials said the move was aimed at ensuring uninterrupted medicine supply across Telangana.

The advisory stated that people facing difficulty in obtaining essential or emergency medicines on May 20, 2026, can immediately contact local Drugs Inspectors or the Assistant Director of the Drugs Control Administration for assistance and intervention.
The DCA said all field officers across the state have been instructed to remain vigilant and respond promptly to medicine-related complaints and public grievances.
