Telangana-Karnataka Hold Positive Talks on Krishna Water Usage, Irrigation and Drinking Water Projects
Telangana and Karnataka held detailed discussions in Hyderabad on Krishna river water usage, irrigation rights, barrage construction, and drinking water projects, says Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy.

Hyderabad: N Uttam Kumar Reddy said Telangana and Karnataka held positive discussions on irrigation and drinking water usage between the two states, with a focus on protecting the interests of both states. The meeting discussed Krishna river water usage, proposed barrage construction, irrigation rights, drinking water needs, and future coordination. The discussions were held at the Dr B R Ambedkar Secretariat on Monday.

Telangana and Karnataka Discuss Krishna River Water Usage
Telangana Irrigation and Civil Supplies Minister Captain N. Uttam Kumar Reddy stated that both states would take positive steps regarding water usage in a way beneficial to Telangana and Karnataka.
He clarified that an agreement would be reached between the two states to safeguard the interests of both governments.
The meeting was held between Karnataka Minor Irrigation Minister Bosuraju and Telangana Irrigation and Civil Supplies Minister Captain N. Uttam Kumar Reddy regarding Krishna river water usage, irrigation requirements, and drinking water needs between Telangana and Karnataka.
High-Level Meeting Held at Dr B R Ambedkar Secretariat
The meeting took place at the Dr B.R. Ambedkar Secretariat in Hyderabad on Monday.

Extensive Discussions on Proposed Krishna Barrage Construction
Speaking during the meeting, Uttam Kumar Reddy said the discussions on Krishna water usage between the two states were conducted in a friendly atmosphere with mutual understanding.
He stated that future policies would be designed in a manner beneficial to both states.
The Telangana minister explained in detail to Karnataka Minister Bosuraju the proposals that should be followed to ensure Telangana state interests are not affected.
He revealed that extensive discussions were held on technical aspects related to the proposed barrage construction on the Krishna River.
Telangana Focuses on Irrigation Rights and Farmers’ Needs
Uttam Kumar Reddy stated that preliminary discussions were held regarding the protection of Telangana’s irrigation and drinking water rights and future requirements.
He said proposals aimed at providing a permanent solution to drinking water problems through inter-state coordination were presented before Karnataka.
According to the minister, Telangana farmers’ irrigation needs were given complete priority during the bilateral discussions on Krishna river reservoir usage.
He added that comprehensive discussions were held to ensure Krishna water usage benefits both states without affecting Telangana’s state rights in irrigation and drinking water matters.
Telangana Government to Take Collective Decision
Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy stated that the discussions held between the two states would be explained to A Revanth Reddy and a collective decision would be taken by the Telangana government.
