Hyderabad: The Secunderabad Railway police have busted Inter-state Ganja smuggling racket from Odisha to Maharashtra state by arresting one ganja peddler here on Monday.
Secunderabad Railway Police and RPF have organized surprise checking against the drugs peddlers on platforms and trains at Secunderabad Railway Station, and apprehended a 30-year-old accused Chand Kumar Nayak, who was transporting dry ganja from Mohana of Odisha State to Nanded of Maharashtra State, police said in a statement here.
Seized two trolley suitcases and three shoulder bags containing 62 kgs of dry ganja, worth Rs 15,50,000 from the accused possession.
Five others including Mihir and Chida (both residents to Mohana village, Gajapathi District, Odisha State) and three unknown Offenders, residents of Nanded are absconding.
They are transporting dry ganja from Mohana of Odisha State to Nanded of Maharashtra for selling the same to needy people at a higher price.
The ganja was seized from his possession under U/s 8(c) r/w 20 (b) (ii) (C) of NDPS Act of RPS Secunderabad. ADG Railway and Road safety Mahesh Bhagwat appreciated the officers and men of GRP Secunderabad and they will be rewarded suitably.
