Hyderabad: Mild tension escalated into a heated confrontation during the elections at Saidabad, where Congress candidate Shaik Akbar from Malakpet faced an attack near a local polling station. The incident unfolded when Akbar, present at the Saidabad polling station, was inspecting the area around 5 pm.
The situation intensified when AIMIM candidate Abdullah Bin Ahmed Balala arrived to visit the polling station. Balala objected to Akbar’s presence at the polling booth, leading the police on-site to escort Akbar away. However, as they were moving towards his vehicle, a group of individuals attacked Akbar.
Swift police intervention followed, with officers resorting to a lathicharge to disperse the assailants and restore order. Following the altercation, Akbar lodged a formal complaint at the Saidabad polling station, specifically naming AIMIM leader Ahmed Balala and others involved in the attack.
Law enforcement promptly registered a case and initiated an investigation into the incident, shedding light on the growing tensions surrounding the electoral process at Saidabad.
