Tolichowki Police Crack Automobile Theft Case, Recover ₹3.5 Lakh Property

Acting on credible information, the police team intercepted the accused at Tolichowki X Roads while they were attempting to sell the stolen property and planning to flee to Mumbai to dispose of the vehicle in the second-hand market

HYDERABAD: The sleuths of Tolichowki Police Station, Hyderabad City, have successfully detected an automobile theft case, apprehending two habitual offenders and recovering stolen property along with the vehicle used in the commission of the offence, totally valued at ₹3,50,000.

INCIDENT DETAILS: On August 12, 2026, at 08:30 hours, Minhaj Ahmed Siddiqui, a resident of Aurangabad, Maharashtra, lodged a complaint with Tolichowki Police Station stating that his Mahindra Scorpio vehicle (MH20CH3020) and a OnePlus 11R mobile phone used by his driver were stolen. According to the complaint, around 03:00 hours, while the driver was sleeping inside the parked vehicle at Safa Tower, Surya Nagar, Tolichowki, the key and phone were stolen. While the driver and watchman were searching for the missing key, two unknown perpetrators drove away with the Mahindra Scorpio vehicle. Based on the complaint, a case was registered under Crime No. 400/2026, U/s 305(b) BNS at Tolichowki Police Station.

ARREST AND RECOVERY: Acting on credible information, the police team intercepted the accused at Tolichowki X Roads while they were attempting to sell the stolen property and planning to flee to Mumbai to dispose of the vehicle in the second-hand market. The arrested individuals have been identified as Mohd Moqtader Ur Rahman alias Ayaan Malik alias Naughty (23), a Rapido driver and car dealer residing near Afzal Masjid, Bandlaguda Chandrayangutta, Hyderabad (A1), and Shaik Akifuddin Shareef (21), an AC Technician residing at Shaheen Nagar, Chandrayangutta, Hyderabad (A2). From their possession, police recovered the stolen Mahindra Scorpio vehicle (MH20CH3020), a OnePlus 11R mobile phone, a Samsung Galaxy M04 mobile phone, and the Yamaha R15 motorcycle (TS04TR5471) used during the commission of the crime. CRIMINAL ANTECEDENTS: Investigation revealed that both accused are habitual property offenders involved in multiple attention diversion and theft cases across various police stations. A1 was released on bail just eight days prior to this incident. Upon his release, A1 joined A2 to commit further property offences and attention diversion crimes to make easy money for their daily expenses. Previously, A1 was involved in cases registered at Nampally PS (Cr. Nos. 39/2025 and 47/2025), Kanchanbagh PS (Cr. No. 19/2025), Film Nagar PS (Cr. No. 200/2026), and Malakpet PS (Cr. Nos. 323/2024 and 351/2024). Similarly, A2 was involved in cases registered at Nampally PS (Cr. Nos. 39/2025 and 47/2025) and Film Nagar PS (Cr. No. 200/2026).
