Tourist from Russia embraces Islam in Hagia Sophia

A tourist from Russia who had embarked on a trip to Istanbul to explore the historically renowned mosque, Hagia Sophia, has made a life-altering decision to convert to Islam. A video circulating on social media exhibits the tourist fervently reciting the Shahada, the fundamental declaration of faith in Islam.

Hagia Sophia, once a prominent Christian Cathedral, underwent a transformation into a mosque during the era of Ottoman rule. In the year 2020, it was reinstated as a mosque. Despite its evolving status, the mosque continues to captivate and allure tourists from diverse religious backgrounds.

During his visit, the Russian tourist attended a lecture on Sahih Bukhari, an esteemed compilation of the sayings and actions of Prophet Muhammad. This enlightening discourse captured his attention and served as a catalyst for his decision to embrace Islam. Following his conversion, he adopted the Islamic name Ahmad Daneez.

This incident serves as a poignant testament to the ability of Hagia Sophia to resonate with individuals hailing from diverse backgrounds and faiths, allowing them to discover spiritual significance within its hallowed walls, regardless of their prior beliefs.
