Hyderabad: TPCC president and Malkajgiri MP A. Revanth Reddy today wrote an open letter to CM KCR and demanded that he conduct BC census in the State like Bihar.
In his letter, he told the CM that the BC census would do justice to the BCs. He said the BC communities strongly feel that justice would be done to them if the census was conducted.
He told the CM that the BCs had been demanding BC caste census and the Congress party also extended its support to the BC census demand of the respective communities for their fair share.
He said the Congress stood by every protest and movement undertaken by the BC communities in this regard. When the Women’s Bill was passed in Parliament, our party Supremo Rahul Gandhi also raised this issue.
The Nitish Kumar government comprising JDU- RJD and Congress parties, who are partners in the India alliance, has successfully carried out the BC census in Bihar. The details were also released on Monday.
The Constitution declares the objective of providing freedom, equality, fraternity and socio-economic-political justice to all the people of the country.
Even after seven decades of independence, there was no change in the condition of the BCs, who constitute half of the population. Dr Ambedkar’s idea was democratic social justice as they would get rights in proportion to one’s caste.
Governments are making their calculations to protect rare bird and animal species. But the population of BCs, who constitute more than half of the country’s population, was not known.
It is unfortunate that the census conducted during the British rule continues to be the standard. As a result, the socially and economically backward BCs are suffering. In this context, justice will be done to the BC communities only with the bc caste census, he said
Hundreds of castes, who have not yet received the fruits of reservation, can be brought to light. The BJP government at the Centre was not paying heed to the demand for a BC census.
It is most unfortunate that even PM Modi, who came to power claiming to be a BC, did not take the initiative to fulfill the legitimate demand of the BCsโ. He also alleged that the State government also thrown welfare of BCs to the winds.
