On Tuesday, TRS activists attacked the Sharmila’s padayatra as threatened earlier. They also reportedly attacked YSRTP spokesperson Epuri Somanna twice causing tension in the area.

However, the police personnel rushed to the spot and pacified both the groups. At this juncture, Sharmila staged a dharna demanding that the police arrest the attackers. In spite of incessant rain in the area over four hours, the YSRTP president continued her dharna.

However, she relented after DSP Venkateshwar Reddy assured her that the police would take action against the trouble makers.
