Hyderabad: Amid ongoing active monsoons, the city reservoirs, Himayat Sagar and Osman Sagar (Gandipet), are experiencing substantial inflows from their catchment areas.
On Friday, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) officials took action by lifting two gates at Himayat Sagar to release excess water downstream into the river Musi.
Managing Director of HMWS&SB, Dana Kishore, stated that the local district administration in Rangareddy, along with senior officials from the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation and the Police Department, were duly informed about this development. They were also cautioned to remain vigilant.
As of now, Himayat Sagar’s total inflow is 1200 cusecs, while the outflow is around 700 cusecs. Out of the reservoir’s 17 gates, two have been lifted.
