Union Minister Kiren Rijijju Tables Waqf (Amendment) Bill in Rajya Sabha after Passage in Lok Sabha

After a 12-hour-long debate, the Waqf (Amendment) Bill was passed in the Lok Sabha before being tabled in the Rajya Sabha by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju on Thursday.

The controversial bill aims to introduce reforms in the management of Waqf properties across India. Despite strong opposition, all proposed amendments by opposition members were rejected through voice votes.

The bill was ultimately cleared by a division of votes, with 288 MPs supporting it and 232 opposing it.
