Kochi: In a devastating incident at the Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT), four students lost their lives, and a staggering 64 others sustained injuries during a stampede that unfolded on Saturday. The unfortunate episode occurred during a tech fest at the university, where singer Nikhita Gandhi was performing at an open-air auditorium on the campus. Expressing her deep regret, Minister George stated, “The news is extremely unfortunate. Forty-six people were brought to Kalamassery Medical College with injuries. Four were brought dead, two boys and two girls. The condition of four is critical, with two of them receiving treatment in a private hospital and the remaining two in a government hospital.”

She further added, “Eighteen injured individuals are admitted to a private hospital. We promptly alerted the hospitals upon receiving the information. A dedicated team of doctors is actively collecting information from the hospitals involved.” The incident has cast a somber shadow over the university community, prompting urgent investigations and a collective effort to address the aftermath of this tragic occurrence.
